Bronze

About Brass

The typical warm, lustrous color of old bronze plus its unique aesthetic, make this the perfect choice for restorations of old buildings. In restorations, the bronze look blends perfectly with the architectural design. The brass material we use is stronger than bronze but achieves the desired appearance. Additionally, the material is particularly resistant to atmospheric elements which makes it the perfect choice for coastal applications.

Brass is perfect for different styles of projects. This includes historic renovations to modern architectural designs. Over time, the natural oxidation process creates a patina and transforms into an attractive rich dark brown color. As a result, the material creates an almost living and every changing finish.

The Material

Utilizing the highest quality OT67 brass in the fenestration industry, 67% copper and 33% zinc make up the product. This ratio allows the alloy to acquire a beautiful patina which is typical of old bronze. Some background – Bronze is one of the first materials used to forge tools and weapons. Additionally, during the renaissance period, many of the world’s most famous buildings had bronze doors. For example, St Peters Basilica, the Pantheon, and Baptistery of St John. In fact, brass is ideal for many types of projects today – from historic renovations to modern architectural designs, and also residential and commercial construction projects requiring a beautiful bronze appearance.

Transformation Process

First, the coil stock is cut and rolled into the frame sections. Then it undergoes a heat treatment. This process prevents the sections from potential cracking because it relieves the stress applied during the rolling process. Finally, the result is the highest quality brass available in the fenestration industry.
